San Diego Hospice "Evening of Appreciation" Honors Donors and Supporters

Second annual Kaye Woltman Legacy Award presented to longtime, La Jolla residents

SAN DIEGO – San Diego Hospice and The Institute for Palliative Medicine recently hosted nearly 200 donors and supporters for its 2012 San Diego Hospice Evening of Appreciation. Long-time supporters and La Jolla residents Daniel and Violet McKinney were awarded the Kaye Woltman Legacy Award by Mr. Richard Woltman and Dr. Doris Howell, founder of San Diego Hospice.

As a way to honor those individuals who have supported San Diego Hospice throughout its 35-year history, guests were invited to the famed University Club for an evening of music and comfort food.

“Volunteers and donors have made San Diego Hospice the ‘gold-standard’ in hospice and palliative care medicine in our region,” said Traci Bruckner, Chief Development Officer at San Diego Hospice and The Institute for Palliative Medicine. “We sincerely value and respect our donors because without their generous and unwavering support, we couldn’t help the thousands of San Diegans that we do each year.”

Other special guests of San Diego Hospice in attendance included: Dr. William and Mrs. Lois Stanton, Charles and Maureen King, Jeffrey and Sheila Lipinsky, Cheryl Kendrick, and Sempra Employee Giving Network’s Terry Durbin and Sandy Pfefferkorn, among many more.

The Ballad Mongers entertained the crowd with its set of cover rock favorites, while attendees dined on gourmet “slider” burgers, a French fries bar, brownies and apple pie.  

The evening of celebration allowed San Diego Hospice to personally thank its donors, who contribute nearly a tenth of the organization’s annual operating budget, for its overwhelming support of the region’s oldest and largest non-profit hospice program.
