The Center for Grief Care and Education demonstrates San Diego Hospice's commitment to our community by supporting families after the death of our patients as well as providing support to community members who are grieving a death that occurred without the benefit of our hospice program.
Currently, we serve more than 9,000 individuals in our community each year through a wide variety of grief programs, including:
Programs for children and families, such as Camp Erin San Diego, Grief Street: A Family Bereavement Program and grief and loss support for children in school districts across San Diego County
Support Groups: Professionally led weekly drop-in groups, and Specialty Groups, are held periodically and meet at various locations across San Diego County to focus on specific types of grief and loss. For more information about our Support Groups click here.
Counseling for adults, children, couples and families. Our counselors are trained in a wide variety of modalities and we offer sliding-fee scales.
The Center for Grief Care and Education (CGCE) offers one of the largest and most comprehensive training sites for pre-licensed (trainees and registered interns) and licensed Marriage and Family Therapists. By educating and training professional counselors and healthcare professionals in all aspects of grief and loss, we help to ensure future generations will benefit from comprehensive grief and loss counseling.
CGCE is among the national leaders in the education of grief and loss counseling, and is home to the three Fellows in Thanatology. Our clinical practicum and internship program has graduated over 225 psychotherapists since its inception in 1998. We offer first, second, and third year clinical internships.
