CGCE Counselors are responsible for assessment, diagnosis, outreach support, referrals, counseling, psychotherapy, and crisis management. Counselors serve a diverse population: individuals, families, couples, and groups.
Each clinician is supervised and expected to practice using a systemic perspective. Our supervisors support each clinician in the process of developing their theoretical orientation through case reviews, videotaped/live supervision, and through supportive self-of-therapist exploration. Our integrative approach fulfills the educational expectations of COAMFTE approved universities. Clinicians are expected to learn and implement a variety of interventions, including verbal and non-verbal (play, art) to support patients and families. Treatment plans focus on a variety of clinical issues, especially those family concerns regarding life transitions. Clinical issues of depression, anxiety, partnership problems, and child-parent problems area also addressed.
CGCE provides compassionate and skilled grief care to our patients and families, before and after the patient’s death. Our dedication is reflected in the education, training, and research we have conducted during the last ten years. We have touched the lives of tens of thousands of individuals through client care, education, and community outreach.
The one-year Internships begin in May and August, with a 60+ hour training the month immediately preceding the start date (April and July).
